Around the island....

Just 13 kms away is Limenas (Thassos Town), this vibrant town is the capital of the island and offers our guests many activities and great beaches. In ancient times, Limenas, was an important city and center of trade not just for Thassians. This glorious past can be witnessed by the ancient ruins, including the breathtaking open air theatre and ancient market, the 'Acropolis' at the back of Limenas bears testimony to the importance of the ancient beliefs. The Archaeological Museum offers an organised way to learn more about the rich past of Thassos. The ancient theatre of Limenas also hosts some of the most important performances and concerts of the Philippi-Thassos Festival, a major cultural event in Northern Greece that takes place in the area every summer. Limenas also hosts the main port on the island with regular ferry boat crossings to Keramoti on the mainland.

The second port on the island can be found in Skala Prinos, 28 kms from Skala Potamia. The ferry boat service from here provides a direct route to the wonderful city of Kavala.

You can 'quench your spiritual thirst' at one of the numerous churches or spectacular monasteries which can be found all over Thassos – most notable is the Archangel Michael monastery which is 24 km's to the south of Skala Potamia. The monastery is perched on a cliff overlooking the endless blue Aegean.

We haven't even mentioned some of the other villages and towns like Kazavitis, Kallirachi, Sotiros, Maries, Limenaria, Potos, Astris, Aliki or Theologos – we'll leave you to discover them for yourself....
